The Commercial Lifecyle

The Commercial Lifecycle Model is a cyclical process of key steps for procuring goods and services. It provides a consistent model and set of standards across the three distinct stages of procurement stages: Pre-contract, Procure, Contract Management.

The model sets the standards for commercial relationships, supports transparency and fairness principles, enables standardised structured thinking, recognises commercial issues that overlap the differing stages of the model, provides a clear governance route, complements the Cabinet Office Sourcing Playbook approach, supports the National Procurement Policy Statement and helps ensure that best value for money and wider economic benefits can be evidenced.

It ensures there is full visibility and management of all elements of the commercial process, providing a clear and transparent audit trail, helping decision making and better market and supplier management, improving and ensuring best value and economic outcomes.
