Framework Awarded for Alcohol Breath Testing Equipment

BlueLight Commercial has awarded the National Framework for the Supply, Installation, and Maintenance of Alcohol Breath Testing Equipment, providing UK police forces and wider blue light organisations with a compliant, efficient route to market for critical roadside and evidential testing solutions.

The framework supports the procurement of essential breath testing equipment and associated services, ensuring organisations have access to reliable technology and ongoing technical support to maintain operational readiness, compliance, and evidential integrity.

The framework covers three Lots:

• Lot 1 – Evidential Breath Testing Instruments
• Lot 2 – Roadside Breath Screening Devices
• Lot 3 – Installation, calibration, servicing and maintenance

The framework has an estimated total value of £21.6 million and has been established as an Open Framework under the Procurement Act 2023. In accordance with the requirements of the Act, the framework will be reopened during its term, with the first reopening taking place no later than June 2029.

The framework will remain in place for a maximum of eight years and is scheduled to expire in June 2034.

By combining equipment supply with installation, maintenance, calibration and servicing requirements, the framework reduces administrative burden for forces while supporting greater consistency and standardisation of breath testing equipment across the policing landscape.
