National Selected Medical Practitioner (SMP) Forum
Tuesday, April 12, 2022
On Tuesday 17th May 2022, BlueLight Commercial are hosting the first National Selected Medical Practitioner (SMP) Forum at Ashorne Hill Management College in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.
Occupational Health supports the health and wellbeing of members of police services through their ‘journey’ from the assessment of fitness at recruitment through the lifecycle of their career, including for a small cohort, management of the ill health retirement process.
BlueLight Commercial have been working in collaboration with the College of Policing, Police Forces, the NPCC, the National Police Federation, medical practitioners and providers to review the current arrangements for the provision of Selected Medical Practitioner services across England, Wales and Scotland. This work has highlighted challenges in relation to the workforce and the way Selected Medical Practitioners are currently commissioned by forces.
The national SMP forum will bring together key stakeholders at a national level to address the challenges that have been identified and drive improvements to the way the services are delivered, resulting in better outcomes for forces. The forum is aimed at subject matter experts within forces (Occupational Health Specialists, FMAs, HR and Pension Specialists, Commercial Specialists) and Selected Medical Practitioners.
