Spotlight On: Uniform Trousers

A compliant route to market for blue light and associated public sector organisations.

The existing specification for general patrol trousers was outdated and hadn’t been revised in over 10 years; BlueLight Commercial prioritised the procurement of trousers to provide a robust solution, which:

1. Supports a new, fit for purpose, trouser specification that improves upon the quality of what is currently available.
2. Establishes a framework that will provide economies of scale and allow innovation to provide best value for policing.
3. Enables post award innovation: suppliers, BLC and forces can work in partnership to develop and build on the initial specification to ensure a comfortable, durable product fit for purpose now and in the future.

Crucially, the standard procurement process was restructured to allow operational officers to take part in a full wearer trial assessment. Conducted over stages this allowed - for the first time - further design enhancement and development from the initial submission.
