Journey to Net Zero
National Sustainability Programme
We continue to support the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) and Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC), National Sustainability Programme. The programme is focussed on delivering a unified strategy and developing a consistent force-wide approach to sustainability, working towards carbon net zero.
The three key workstreams cover:
Providing national direction for sustainability strategy and policy, and ensuring an equal focus on the environment, social and economic impacts of policing. Establishing a strategic framework for strategy development and monitoring of progress against net zero targets.
Focussing on the decarbonisation of force buildings and driving energy efficiency initiatives in policing. Working with the National Police Estates Group (NPEG) on long-term sustainable goals; reducing energy consumption, increasing renewal energy usage and improving overall sustainability performance.
Decarbonising the fleet by working with National Association of Police Fleet Managers (NAPFM) on the transition from ICE to electric and alternative fuel vehicles and the supporting charging infrastructure required.
National Sustainability Programme
BlueLight Commercial is supporting the National Sustainability Programme through guidance and the national commercial pipeline, helping the transition to renewable, low carbon energy, infrastructure and vehicles. This work aligns to the government's aim of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals which ensures activity is conducted in a sustainable and ethical manner.

Fleet Decarbonisation
BlueLight Commercial has worked in partnership with industry experts to develop the National Fleet Decarbonisation Strategy for both existing and future police fleet based on a full lifecycle approach and operational requirements. This covers the decarbonisation of the wide range of fleet of police vehicles, considering various vehicle propulsion systems and supporting infrastructure. The recommendations within this analysis can be tailored by force to reflect local requirements, resources and priorities.

Our Impact on the Environment
BlueLight Commercial has been set up to minimise our impact on the environment with all our team being home based and working collaboratively in virtual environment. We encourage low carbon travel via the rail network and car sharing when we do travel.
